Lomonosov Gymnasium was opened on the 13 th of October 1868.At first it was planned to be opened in 1865 in the year of celebration of the 100 years anniversary of the famous poet,writer,engineer and Michael Lomonosov.
 
   The Gymnasium was only for girls and had very strict regulations even for those times.For example,it was forbidden to attend dances.The gymnasium leavers had very sound knowledge.The studied such subjects as History, Mathematics,Physics,Astronomy, Russian,German,French,Russian and French Literature, Gymnastics,Dances,Geography,Calligraphy,Drawing and some others.
 
   In 1914 the Gymnasium was evacuated to Ukraine and returned to Riga only in 1919.Since that time it has been named riga Russian Secondary School or Lomonosov Gymnasium.
 
   Since 1931 the Gimnasium has been situated in Akas Street 10.
 
   In 1941 the military hospital was placed there.But in autumn 1945 this building became the 77 th Primary School.
 
   In 1991 the School got its historical name lomonosov Riga russian Gymnasium
.
   Since 2001 the School is named Riga M.Lomonosov Russian Secondary School.

   Now our School is the oldest Secondary Educational Establishment in Latvia.
